The picturesque 435-acre Kingston Downs served as the breathtaking backdrop for the day’s races, where more than 20,000 spectators cheered on jockeys competing for purses totaling $145,000. Proceeds from the day benefited the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation.

Also available to quench spectators’ thirsts were delectable Bloody Marys provided by the St. Regis—the originator of the popular cocktail. During the late afternoon, Steeplechase Chairman Hal Barry and Herve Pennequin, the former wine director of The St. Regis Atlanta Hotel & Residences, toasted to a spectacular soirée. The day’s festivities included a time-honored hat contest in which participants vied for prizes such as “Most Whimsical” and “Most Beautiful.”

Ralph Lauren treated VIP guests to beautifully wrapped “Thoroughbred” scented candles, an appropriate gift for the equine affair.
