Subtle Chic

The 2016 Luxury Living Show, presented by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles at Phipps Plaza, exhibited the freshest trends in kitchen, bath and outdoor living, offering a glimpse into what’s next.

For an upclose and personal look at the year’s most covetable trends, the seventh-annual Luxury Living Show provided a hands-on showcase of the latest high-end products from across the globe. Presented by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles at Phipps Plaza, the 2016 exhibition was a study in understated elegance, featuring the expertly designed Dream Kitchen, Dream Bath and Outdoor Living Display—each as ultra-chic as its luxury fashion surroundings.

Designed by Bell Kitchen & Bath Studios, the kitchen boasted a fresh, neutral palette complemented by thoughtful details and textured elements. “Our vision for this year’s design was to create a classic Atlanta kitchen that was sophisticated and elegant—but with a dash of unexpected flair,” says Courtney Foster Shearer, senior designer at Bell Kitchen & Bath Studios.

Inset cabinetry, painted a glossy taupe, provides a dose of tailored interest, as do custom refrigerator doors (inspired by an Instagram photo of a pair of doors in Paris) and a weathered white oak hutch that feels more like a piece of furniture than kitchen storage. To counterbalance the cabinetry’s detail, a stunning Cambria marble was selected for both the backsplash and the countertops, imparting an understated yet chic touch.

“I think a big trend for today’s kitchen is the ability to play up focal elements like hoods, refrigerators and islands in a way that really shows off what a little creativity and some custom millwork can do,” says Shearer.

CSI Kitchen & Bath Studio took a similarly clean approach in the bath, where sleek lines and a crisp color scheme in multiple hues produce a spa-like feel. Shower and tub panels made from a high-performance Neolith in a non-tile application create a seamless, durable surface that requires minimal maintenance. Frameless cabinetry in the his-and-hers vanities maximizes storage space, creating a polished aesthetic alongside glossy Quartzite counters and chrome faucetry. “We wanted to choose something that would lend itself to the transitional style of this bath,” says CSI’s Mimi Clausen.

A balance of classic luxury and cutting-edge style was on display in the outdoor living area by Diversified Cabinet Distributors, Inc., in which Alfresco cooking surfaces are ideal for summer barbecues or garden parties. Hard-wearing countertops from Levantina and salvaged wood accents give a nod to nature while standing up to wear and tear.
