Book Look

From bold and bodacious design elements to fresh and inviting interiors, AH&L is settling into spring with a few of our favorite reads

Inviting Interiors

Renowned not only in Atlanta but across the Southeast, interior designer Melanie Turner takes readers on a guided tour of her most elegant, glamorous designs in her premier tome Inviting Interiors: A Fresh Take on Beautiful Rooms (Rizzoli, $50). Separated by five looks that range from colorful to collected and beyond, the book puts emphasis on creating understated, yet sophisticated and timeless spaces using balance, scale, light and color.

Design Remix

In his debut book, Design Remix: A New Spin on Traditional Rooms (Rizzoli, $45), designer Corey Damen Jenkins shares how he went from knocking on hundreds of doors for design work to becoming a respected member of the interiors industry. Now, Jenkins reveals to readers how he masters the mix—taking a dramatic approach to design with bold colors and patterns, and an even larger approach to life, encouraging us to respect the past but always live in the here and now.

Visions of Home

Known for infusing classic Southern soul into today’s residences, architecture and planning firm Historical Concepts debuts on a national stage with Visions of Home: Timeless Design, Modern Sensibility (Rizzoli, $50). Principle Andrew Cogar opens the doors to 10 projects that explore tradition, craft and creativity. From the eclectic to the elegant and exotic locales, Historical Concepts reveals how they approach design with beauty— and the client—front of mind.

Patina Homes

Husband-and-wife authors Steve and Brooke Giannetti bring forth images of ultimate architectural beauty in their latest title Patina Homes (Gibbs Smith, $50). With 12 tours of Steve’s architectural designs inside, the Giannettis reveal their signature patina style—and share how it moves gracefully from coast to country, classic to contemporary—through projects including a French Provençal home, historic East Coast farmhouse, modern desert glass box and more.

Island Whimsy

The ocean breeze feels closer than ever with Island Whimsy: Designing a Paradise by the Sea (Rizzoli, $55) by designer Celerie Kemble. While much of the world remains on pause, Kemble takes us on a tropical vacation to Playa Grande—a whimsical grouping of family homes and guesthouses in the Dominican Republic she lovingly designed. Combining beauty with function, readers will find endless inspiration to infuse their homes with invitation, welcome and magic.

Principles of Pretty Rooms

Designer Phoebe Howard of Mrs. Howard and Max & Company enlightens readers on achieving easy elegance and welcoming style in her new book The Principles of Pretty Rooms (Abrams, $40). Featuring tried-and-true decor strategies, how-to-get-the-look guides and peeks into her most charming interiors, the celebrated designer spills her secrets on how to get the signature Mrs. Howard look, without fail.

Flowers

Interior designer, author and philanthropist Charlotte Moss showcases her best budding beauties for every season—and occasion—in Charlotte Moss Flowers (Rizzoli, $50). With chapters that cover different floral varieties, inspiration taken from her favorite tastemakers and more, the book acts as a visual diary for Moss’ best arrangements, and also a guide for readers to recreate them at home.
