Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles presents its annual Home for the Holidays Showhouse and Marketplace from November 14th through December 8th, 2019.
Architectural designer Frank Heery of Harrison Design, along with White Oak Fine Homes and interior selections by The O’Donnell Group, will transform a modestly-sized 1950s-era Saltbox at the end of a long drive on a nearly four-acre forested lot in Sandy Springs. “It was a well-built house, and we wanted to show people what you can do with a renovation,” Heery says.
The 5,500-square-foot, five-bedroom abode will include several new additions, each built with limestone foundations and clad with handsome wood lap siding. A distinctive new office tower on one end of the house will be balanced by a master bedroom wing on the other, its attached bath cantilevered over the verdant grounds like a floating glass box.
A second glass enclosure will contain a sculptural staircase that connects all three levels, offering lush back yard views while flooding the interior with natural daylight. And at the terrace level, a spacious new covered front porch with arched steel doors will open to a long swimming pool with a splayedinfinity edge that overlooks the creek below.
