Sweet Home Alabama

Lake Martin, one of Alabama’s most desirable locations for primary and secondary homes, will soon become even more enticing with the addition of The Benjamin Lake Club, the lake’s only multiuse waterfront lake club. Currently under construction, the club will be located within The Heritage, a 1,500-acre residential development that will consist of approximately 250 waterfront and 150 water-access properties. Developed by Russell Lands, The Heritage is already home to the private Wicker Point Golf Club and its Coore & Crenshaw-designed golf course, the first to be
built in the state.

The Benjamin, which is being designed by Atlanta-based architecture firm cooper carry, will cater exclusively to homeowners in The Heritage. “The addition of The Benjamin to the community will provide families and friends who own in The Heritage a place to have fun and unwind with an assortment of amenities at a waterfront complex,” says roger holliday, vice president of Russell Lands. Those amenities will include a two-story clubhouse, an expansive fitness center, a resort-style pool, tennis and pickleball courts and an amphitheater. Along the water, there will be a beach and community docks, all ideally suited to the club’s location near the end of a quiet cove, according to steve arnberg, vice president of real estate sales. “It allows for excellent views, still water for the community docks and a safe swimming area for children at the beach.”

Scheduled to open in spring of 2025, The Benjamin is the latest addition to Russell Lands’ portfolio at Lake Martin, which also includes the residential developments Willow Point, The Ridge and Trillium.
