Position: 2026 Holiday Designer Showhouse Internship, Winter 2026 (November – December, 2026)

Internship Overview:

Established in 1983, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine is the premier home, garden and style publication of Atlanta, as well as the Southeast. Outside of the pages of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, events play a key role in connecting with and expanding upon our dedicated audience. From our annual Showhouses to our Tour of Kitchens and Atelier, successful event execution is vital to the organization. Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine is currently seeking an enthusiastic and highly-motivated intern for our 2026 Holiday Designer Showhouse

As the 2026 Holiday Designer Showhouse Intern, you will be part of a dynamic team. You will gain hands-on experience through assisting our Showhouse Operations & Events Manager with onsite, live-event execution at our Holiday Designer Showhouse, as well as various on-site tasks at the Showhouse

As an intern, you can expect to gain knowledge in several key aspects of event marketing, particularly event management and execution, as well as gain experience in the hospitality industry. Interns will also receive exclusive opportunities to meet and mingle with participating Holiday Showhouse Designers throughout the run of show. 

Candidates must be located in Atlanta, GA, as this is an in-person position. Interested candidates should email [email protected] with a resume and cover letter. The dates of this internship will be November 16 – December 13, 2026. This is an unpaid internship.

On-Site Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Opening: Greet and check-in volunteers as they arrive, providing name tags and introduction to Day Captain, directions for leaving purses, providing information about the house, etc.
  • Pre-Opening: Assist with set-up for ticketed or complimentary events
  • During operating hours: Take stock of details like crowd control, security and unmanned spaces. Relay concerns to Operations/Events Manager as necessary.
  • During operating hours: Man Ticketing and Registration Desk in Showhouse Garage or check in guests at the door; act as floater (docent/tickets/liaison) as necessary. 
  • During operating hours: Serve as an on-site social media content contributor by capturing behind-the-scenes moments, designer features, special events and the guest experience through photo and video content. Assist in creating and publishing Instagram Stories and other social content for Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and the Holiday Designer Showhouse, crafting copy and captions in accordance with established brand standards and editorial guidelines.
  • During operating hours: Tidy up Registration & hospitality area; restock supplies if necessary; refill coffee/water and toss trash when needed. *Assist with running any necessary and miscellaneous errands during the day – i.e. picking up volunteer lunches, etc.* Assist with setting up and taking down for events at the Showhouse.
  • During operating hours: Restock Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles sponsorship table and registration area with more magazines as necessary. Take stock of materials in the Sponsorship Showcase room each day you are on-site. Relay to AH&L rep which materials are in need of replacing
  • Post-operating hours: Remove and store event / parking signs and easels
  • For special events/private parties, provide general support to staff and participating vendors with pre-event prep. Relay requests/concerns to Operations/Events Manager as necessary. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a major in Communications, Hospitality, Interior Design, Marketing, or Public Relations or graduate with a degree in Communications, Hospitality, Marketing, Interior Design or Public Relations
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Instagram Stories, Reels and social media best practices, with an eye for compelling visual content and strong copywriting skills.
  • Computer Savvy
  • Capable of working successfully in a team environment
  • Interest in event marketing, event management and/or interior design
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Detail oriented with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Must be willing to dedicate office hours as well as weekend or holiday hours to assist on the execution of events and day to day responsibilities at the Holiday Designer Showhouse

Please note: This is an unpaid internship offered for academic credit and is intended for current undergraduate students or individuals seeking hands-on experience and exposure to the design industry. Due to the in-person nature of the role, candidates must be based in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
