Tiny Details Make a Big Difference in This Transitional Bathroom Refresh
Gabrielle Picard Designs delivers a sanctuary where traditional craftsmanship meets modern comfort
A referral from another client brought Gabrielle Mosher of Gabrielle Picard Designs in to renovate this primary en suite into a serene retreat. “They had some water damage on the door trim and an outdated bathroom, so we tackled both issues with a fresh eye,” says Gabrielle Mosher.
With a trained focus on ensuring graceful symmetry, balance, and as much natural light as possible, Mosher planned a bright, lively take on traditional design. By reconfiguring space from the adjacent primary closet to maximize the floor plan’s flow, she added a double vanity with custom inset cabinetry, complete with a pullout laundry hamper—her favorite feature, thanks to meticulous collaboration with Stone Creek Cabinetry & Millworks to achieve just the right look and function.
The room is wrapped in Benjamin Moore’s aptly named Quiet Moments, a muted sage with a faint gray undertone intended to exude tranquility and inspire meditation. “Those who know me know I love color, and I wanted to create a serene space where clients could feel refreshed,” adds Mosher. Brass knobs punctuate the millwork like jewelry, echoing the warm glow of the polished plumbing and gilded chandelier. “The result is a bathroom that transcends trends,” says Mosher.
Opposite the double vanity, a floating bathtub functions as much as an art sculpture as a spot to soak and relax below the sunny window dressed in a roman shade for privacy. A spacious, marble-clad shower and water closet tucked out of sight complete the scheme.
The real secret ingredient to this renovation’s success is the communication between the designer—who was nine months pregnant during site visits—and the team. “Luckily, the contractor, Tim Champney, is equally detail-oriented and was super organized with the project while I stepped away to spend time with my newborn baby,” she adds.
