The winners of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles’ 2013 Bath of the Year contest are not only high-style, they’re also abounding with innovation. Proving less is more, these baths have been designed as chic retreats, where simplicity reigns supreme, personal style is celebrated and a light and bright foundation is punctuated by a careful mix of modern and classic flourishes.
This winter, we took an already amazing home–a gorgeous William T. Baker-designed estate on tony West Wesley Road in Buckhead–enlisted the help of 23 of Atlanta’s top designers, and turned it into the most stylish living space ever: Christmas House. Along with a guest house, media room and wine cellar, our show house had 11 bathrooms and an artists’ atelier. World-class art and amazing furniture filled the spaces–all of which, sadly, had to be returned after the house closed But not before we threw parties raised money for charity (the Alliance Children’s Theatre), hosted book signings and a lecture series, and showed it off to more than 6,000 visitors.
Whether it’s a powder room or a master sanctuary, a beautiful bath is all about the details. So after sifting through more than 50 submissions from our 3009 Bath Contest–and revisiting a few of our features from the past year–we turned the spotlight on some favorites. Here, we take an up-close look at elements that can take a lavatory to the next level.
