Former Atlanta tastemaker running for U.S. Senate in South Carolina

We just heard that Nathalie Dupree, the celebrated Southern chef and cookbook author, is running as a write-in candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina.

Dupree is probably best-known in Atlanta as the founder of the cooking school at Rich’s Department store, as well as the host of numerous PBS cooking programs and countless cookbooks on southern cuisine.

Less than a year ago, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles caught up with Dupree at a cooking series with long-time friend Marie Nygren, owner of Serenbe in south Fulton County. The story was featured in our December 2009 issue.

For more details on the announcement, check out Dupree’s official campaign website or this story from The New York Times.
