As summer comes to a close, we’re savoring every minute of the outdoor activities, art festivals and summer showhouses. Here’s our round-up of the top Atlanta happenings this August.

August 9-17 Downtown Restaurant Week returns with special $15, $25 and $35 exclusive prix-fixe meals at Atlanta’s hottest eateries such as Alma Cocina, White Oak Kitchen and BLT Steak. Learn more about this nine-day dining experience here.

August 15 Callanwolde’s Jazz on the Lawn series continues this month. Bring a blanket and picnic basket to enjoy the cool and contemporary music of Bradford Rogers. $15 per person. 

August 16-17 The fifth-annual Piedmont Park Arts Festival returns mid-month. The two-day event features an artist market with over 250 painters, photographers and sculptors, plus live music and food trucks. piedmontparkartsfestival.com

August 17 Join Atlanta’s best chefs and sommeliers as they host an exclusive dinner benefitting the Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry campaign. This annual culinary benefit, which also features live entertainment and live and silent auctions, is dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America. August 23-24 Celebrate Atlanta’s oldest public park at the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, located in the heart of historic Grant Park. The festival, which benefits the Grant Park Conservancy, features a diverse artist’s market, live music, food, a 5K Run for the Park and a farmer’s market. summershadefestival.org

August 23-31 Hilliard House, a charming Lowcountry home occupying 29 wooded acres alongside Whiteside Mountain, is the site of the 2014 Cashiers Designer Showhouse, presented by the Cashiers Historical Society and sponsored by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. August 25 Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2014, benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Atlanta Aids Fund, is back for another year.
