Monthly Social Calendar: September, part 1

Sept 4 Join Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs Inc. as he leads a tour through the ADAC showrooms where he finds inspiration and products for residential and commercial projects. The tour, featuring showrooms including Jerry Pair, Ann Sacks, Jim Thompson, R. Hughes ATELIER (and the designer’s own ADAC: BEHIND THE WINDOWS vignette), is open to the trade and public. 12-2 p.m.

Sept. 5-30 Muse & Co. Fine Art‘s “Modern Naive” exhibit introduces contemporary artist Barbara Olsen, known for her shimmering colors and storytelling skills. The show, running through September 30, will also feature new works from gallery artist Ron Irwin.

Sept 6-28 The 2014 Serenbe Designer Showhouse, presented by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, opens for tours Saturday, September 6. Nestled in the heart of Serenbe’s newest real estate collection, Swann Ridge, the English-inspired cottage, accessed via footbridge, will feature spaces created by 12 Atlanta-based designers. Tour the house Thursdays through Sundays and by group appointment.

Sept. 13 Zoo Atlanta’s creative cocktail bash, Jazzoo, is returning for its sixth year. With Zoo Atlanta as the backdrop, guests will enjoy fare from 30 of Atlanta’s best restaurants, open bars and live entertainment from four stages. Vip tickets $175; General tickets $100.

Sept. 13-14 The Atlanta Arts Festival returns to Piedmont Park, bringing together acclaimed artists and art enthusiasts from across the country. Guests will enjoy fine art, live music, local bites and artist demonstrations. Admission is free and open to all ages. 

Sept. 13-14 Atlanta helps kick off the 2nd annual James Beard Foundation’s Taste America with a two-day affair featuring a benefit dinner, culinary demos, book signings and tastings at Sur la Table. The event will preview tastes from Atlanta culinary authorities including Ford Fry, Kevin Rathbun and Anne Quatrano. jbftasteamerica

Through Sept. 14 The High Museum of Art’s Dream Cars: Innovative Design, Visionary Ideas exhibit comes to a close mid-month. This innovative exhibit explores the concept or “dream” cars that sparked future ideas and progress in the world of automobiles.

Sept 14 Explore the unique homes of historic Old Fourth Ward during their annual home tour, Fall in the Fourth Ward. The tour features a wide variety of historic and modern homes including lofts, traditional family homes and the “flats” at Ponce City Market. Tickets, $20.
