Champions of Breakfast
Ponce City Market’s newest breakfast restaurant, PANCAKE SOCIAL, leads with pancakes, coffee and comfort
According to Dan Jacobson, owner of Steel Wave Ventures and formerly of Chick-fil-A, Ponce City Market’s all-day breakfast restaurant, Pancake Social, is “a love for pancakes done right.” Also behind the eatery are Jacobsen’s partners: Steven Chan, Tony Riffel, and chef Anne Quatrano. And while pancakes and coffee are the restaurant’s bread and butter (expect everything from lemon soufflé to Dutch baby to pecan praline pancakes), the menu also includes healthier options such as grain bowls, avocado toast and fresh juices.
“We wanted to see a menu that did not have Southern classics but instead had new twists—like using artisanal and gluten-free grains—and that was a little healthier and fresher. We liked the dichotomy of pancakes alongside surprisingly healthy strawberry-beet-apple juice and the quinoa bowl,” Quatrano says.
Inside, the restaurant itself is as unique as its menu—from hand-stenciled floor tiles and wall-mounted clocks proclaiming it’s “time for pancakes.” “Breakfast is more than just a routine to get you on your way,” Jacobsen says.
