Sprinkles Cupcakes opens today
For all you Atlantans with a sweet tooth, you’re in for a treat. Sprinkles Cupcakes, “the world’s first cupcake bakery,” is opening its first Southeastern store in Atlanta today. We stopped by their Lenox Square Mall location yesterday for a sneak peek, and we were swooning over all of the delightful confections they had to offer.
From basic vanilla to chocolate marshmallow, red velvet or ginger lemon, Sprinkles has cupcakes for all types of taste buds. My personal favorite was the Cuban coffee cupcake—not too rich and bursting with hints of cinnamon, coffee and dark chocolate—it was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted.
While one could easily be preoccupied solely on Sprinkles’ cupcakes, they also offer a variety of cookies and ice cream. In addition to the classics, they have unique ice cream flavors such as Cap’n Crunch, salty caramel and red velvet. After sampling a few flavors, I opted for the cupcake sundae—a cupcake split in half with the ice cream flavor of your choice inside. I went for a simple vanilla cupcake paired with the salty caramel ice cream—the perfect marriage of savory and sweet.
With offerings so deliciously addicting, Sprinkles decided to cater to its customers who just can’t get enough. Atlanta will be the fourth city to have a cupcake ATM—available to customers 24 hours a day and stocked with up to 600 freshly baked cupcakes.
With her unique approach, it’s no wonder founder Candace Nelson, judge on Food Network’s show, Cupcake Wars, struck a chord with celebrities and foodies alike—AH&L included.
*Sprinkles Atlanta is celebrating their opening today with the chance to find a golden ticket in your dessert. Each ticket is valid for a $100 gift card to Sprinkles.
