Designing Healthy Communities at MODA // Wild Hope Art Gallery // Song of the South series at Canoe

May 20 Wind down the week with cocktails, dinner and live music from modern folk duo Cicada Rhythm at Canoe’s Song of the South series. Guests are invited to gather around the River Bar for after-work cocktails or enjoy dinner and appetizers at garden tables on the Chattahoochee River as they enjoy the live performance. May 28 Celebrate the South’s finest fare at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. The four-day event features tasting experiences, seminars, demonstrations, panel discussions, private dinner parties, exclusive access to events and more. Back for its fifth year, the festival’s mission is to promote the region’s rich food and beverage traditions and celebrate Southern culture. Purchase tickets here. May 30 Enjoy an evening filled with art, food and live performances at the Hambidge Art Auction + Performance Gala. Hosted at the Goat Farm Arts Center, the event kicks off with a silent auction featuring more than 150 works. Throughout the evening guests will enjoy food and libations from local favorites including Avalon Catering, Anis Café & Bistro and Seven Lamps, as well as browse projects from FIELD EXPERIMENT, this year’s new performance initiative. All month Join the High Museum of Art for A Painter’s Profile: The High Celebrates Romare Bearden, an exhibition honoring Bearden—one of the most influential artists of the 20th century—and celebrating the acquisition of his only known self-portrait, Profile/Part II, The Thirties: Artist with Painting and Model (1981). In addition to the self-portrait, the exhibition will feature eight other works by Bearden in several mediums including collage, watercolor and various prints. Through 7/5. high.org

All month Explore the impact of environments built to promote healthy living at Museum of Design Atlanta’s (MODA) Designing Healthy Communities. The interactive exhibit shows how communities can benefit from healthy options that are accessible and affordable and presents real-world design strategies used by architects, designers and urban planners in established healthy communities. In conjunction with the exhibit, Design Collective will partner with MODA for a panel discussion on May 20. Through 8/9. museumofdesign.org

All month Switch up typical Tuesday specials with F&B Atlanta’s all-you-can-eat mussels. All month Wild Hope Art Gallery brings fine art from Asheville, North Carolina’s River Arts District to Atlanta with the Asheville Art Connection. The show, running all month, will feature works from Asheville area artists including Mark Bettis, Tebbe Davis, Karen Weihs and Victoria Pinney. The goal of the Connection program is to make coveted art from the River Arts District easily available to collectors and interior designers based in the Atlanta area. wildhopeartgallery.com
