All That Glitters
This lavish master bath designed by Courtney Giles is peppered with luxe touches such as mother of pearl tile, eye-catching artwork and a sparkling chandelier, but the true centerpiece is the freestanding nickel tub. True to the lovingly preserved 1911 home’s fresh aesthetic, the bath’s overall effect is both glamorous and serene.
Master Plan
Considering builder Michael Ladisic’s personal masterpiece—his dream home in Peachtree Park—was 17 years in that making, it’s no surprise that every detail, including this dreamy master bath, was designed to perfection. The floors, large marble sheets arranged in a herringbone pattern, are practically art in themselves. Ladisic edged the tiles with Schluter strips in metal instead of traditional bullnose pieces to cultivate a modern feel, a theme continued with the white Glassos-covered counters. Anchoring the space is a large leaded window that lets in plenty of light and provides a breathtaking view of the lush backyard.
Fresh & Clean
The light-and-bright master bathroom of the 2015 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Home for the Holidays Showhouse is a picture-perfect retreat, thanks to Beni Borza of Kingdom Woodworks, Karen Ferguson of Harrison Design and Carole Weaks, C. Weaks Interiors. Carrara marble floors, polished marble counters, nickel faucetry and sconces and cabinetry painted in a Benjamin Moore slate hue create a calming yet bright effect. A pair of picture windows further illuminates the space, while subtle ornamentation in the form of monogrammed towels and outdoor plants maintain the clean aesthetic.
Timeless Classic
A winner of 2015’s Bath of the Year contest, this master bath remodel by Barbara Westbrook puts a fresh spin on traditional design elements. The designer achieved this by filling the room with classic touches such as an elegant charcoal-and-white checkerboard floor, a claw-footed tub (the underside of which is painted a similar shade of gray) and towering French oak cabinetry, which adds a sense of warmth.
Serenbe Show House
Suite Style
The 2015 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse was an oasis of laid-back luxury, and the stylish master bath, designed Krista Nye Schwartz and Tami Ramsay of Cloth & Kind, was no exception. Richly layered elements and custom details, such as artwork by Rinne Allen and Clay McLaurin, pack a visual punch and play up the adjoining bedroom’s soulful aesthetic. “It’s important to be intentional and edited with your design layers,” says Ramsay. “This way, they read as chic and subtle instead of overwhelming.”
Set in Stone
“I had slabbed walls with marble before, but never with a panel design,” says Matthew Quinn of Design Galleria Kitchen & Bath Studio, who used Montclair Danby in this classically chic master bath. “Without the panels, it would be too contemporary.” Inspired by baths from Europe, the bath’s design remains consistent with the timelessness of rest of the historic home, which was originally designed by legendary classicist Philip Shutze.
