AH&L’s Best of February

Welcome winter with inspiring design events and artists markets.

1. Meet New York’s sought-after stylist Hilary Robertson on February 4 from 6–8 p.m. for a discussion and signing of her new book, The Monochrome Home at Bradley Odom’s new Westside showroom Dixon Rye. JCT Kitchen will provide complimentary bites and drinks, and copies of The Monochrome Home will be available to purchase for $35.
2. Trinity School’s 35th annual Spotlight on Art Artists Market kicks off this month, February 1–6. The curated artist’s market is one of the largest and most diverse in the Southeast, featuring more than 350 artists whose styles range from contemporary to folk. The six-day event includes opportunities to meet the artists, an opening night party on February 1 and Cocktails and Canvases on February 5.
3. The 45th annual Cathedral Antiques Show concludes with its musn’t-miss Tour of Homes on February 7, when five of Atlanta’s most deftly designed private residences will be open to the public. Each home boasts immaculate interior design and architecture and will be on view from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. All proceeds from the 2016 Cathedral Antiques show will benefit Literacy Action.
4. Enjoy the power of storytelling as Callanwolde Fine Arts Center showcases the regions best storytellers and storytelling traditions on February 18 with its Emerging Voices series. This month’s show features black history and folk tales, spotlighting Atlanta’s renowned oratory talents. Refreshments will be available for purchase, and tickets are available at the door. Cash or check only; $5 for the general admission, free for members.
5. The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art presents the 10th Annual Philip Trammell Shutze Awards, a recognition of excellence in classical and traditional design. Held at the Piedmont Driving Club on February 27, the ceremony will recognize Senior Principal of Historical Concepts James L. Strickland as honorary chair, and Jackye Lanham of Jacquelynne P. Lanham Designs Inc. as winner of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award.
6. The Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville kicks off its 26th season on President’s Day weekend with a keynote program featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and interior designer Windsor Smith. The three-day event, running February 12–14, will showcase more than 150 fine antiques and horticultural vendors, alongside inspirational garden spaces and lectures. Other featured speakers and panelists include Honorary Chair Bunny Williams, Brian McCarthy and Mark D. Sikes, among others.
