These welcoming guest retreats represent Southern hospitality at its finest.

Musso Design Group principal and lead designer Bill Musso attributes the inspiration for this men’s guest suite to an editorial spread in Vogue. The designer infused the space with elements of modern luxury with a baroque twist, including a turfed chaise, crystal chandelier and chartreuse velvet paneled walls. Their opulence is complimented by sparkling elements such as glass lamps and mirror finishes for an ornate finish.

Creating a welcoming refuge was top of mind Barbara Heath when designing this guest  bedroom. Inspired by Jim Thompson’s fabrics, Heath layered textiles in shades of jade, aqua and seafoam for a calming effect, which is echoed in a Melissa Payne Baker painting hung over a desk.

Christy Dillard and Heidi Pierce of Dillard Pierce Design Associates, LLC made sure that this guest retreat offered comfortable essentials such as books, plush seating and inspiring accessories. Antiques and transitional furniture mingle to create depth, while a custom plaster wallcovering adds texture that “cannot be achieved with paint.”

Drawing inspiration from English-style architecture, Tish Mills cultivated a soft and serene guest suite that plays with scale color and material to create a sense of harmony. The whole idea was to show how masculine and feminine balance within the space,” says Mills. Bold oak furniture intermix with fresh, lighter hues in the textured rug and bedding, and Mills purposefully placed nightstands with strong scale next to the pale, washed bed frame for balance.
