Atlanta is Heatin’ Up! Cool Down Your Summer Party With These Best-Kept Entertaining Tips

Jessica Bradley Interiors saves AH&L a seat at their graceful, poolside summer soirée

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles: Tell us about the theme of your tabletop. What was the inspiration behind your design?

Jessica Bradley: This tablescape design was born from a single, bold statement: the blue backsplash. Its rich hue and whimsical pattern became the anchor for the entire look. From there, coral accents naturally followed, offering a soft but energetic contrast that brings warmth and vibrancy to the blue tones. We leaned into the interplay between sea and sun—blue representing depth and calm, while coral adds life and movement. Together, they create a setting that feels both refreshing and inviting, perfect for laid-back gatherings with a touch of elegance.

AH&L: In addition to the table setting, you also designed this pool house. Tell us how using separate entertaining zones can benefit a summer party.

JB: We wanted to make sure our design lended itself to organic social interactions, so we created multiple seating areas with different intentions. This allows guests to spread out, explore, and interact in smaller groups. It makes the vibe feel more dynamic and less cramped. The pool house kitchen allows our client to have a space for clean up and prep—definitely not something you want your guests to have to look at.

AH&L: What is your top tip for making a summer get-together memorable for guests?

JB: Comfortability! As a host, making people feel comfortable isn’t just polite, it’s what allows your guests to enjoy themselves. When guests feel at ease, they’re more likely to talk, laugh, and bond—even with people they’ve just met. We wanted to create a trusting space that makes you feel right at home. That’s the secret sauce to a successful party: good vibes and new connections.

AH&L: Atlanta summers are sizzling. How do you keep guests cool at a summer event?

JB: Frozen drinks are a fun way to put a personal touch on your party while simultaneously keeping your guests cooled down. Other small touches like chilled towels, an abundance of fans, and light, refreshing snacks are the way to go. I also like to include fun rafts if you are by a pool—in case you have that one daring guest.

AH&L: What simple element can elevate an entire table setting?

JB: Music and lighting are two key players in elevating your event. Whether it’s fairy lights, candles, or strategically placed lamps, lighting has the ability to transform a space. Warm, soft lighting feels cozy and inviting, while dim lighting has a more moody and serious tone. A carefully curated playlist lets your guests know what the intended vibe of the event is.

AH&L: Hosting can be hard. What are the main things hosts should focus on, and what are some things to consider delegating?

JB: There are three key tips that are my blueprint for hosting. “Do I have everything my guests could possibly need available to them if required?” This could include blankets if it gets chilly, accessibility to the space, or even having alternative provisions close by. Secondly, it’s important to add a personal touch to differentiate your function from others. This may mean leaving a welcome note or a local treat. Lastly, as a host, it’s crucial to be present! After all, you put in all the hard work and should enjoy it as well.

AH&L: Tell us what your perfect summer party looks like.

JB: My perfect summer party would be a more intimate setting with close friends in a backyard during golden hour. The sun is about to set, there are refreshing snacks for everyone to graze on, mellow music in the background, and some barefoot bocce ball being played. Creating meaningful connections and new memories are the most important part of getting together with friends. jessicabradleyinteriors.com
