Power of Pink

The Maharani pink chandelier from Redefined Home Boutique sets the mood in the cheerful combination kitchen-and-dining area. Redefined Home Boutique also provided the room“s gracious dining table, side chairs and bench, as well as the dazzling mercury glass hurricanes and antique grate. The appliances are by Gaggenau.

When mounted on stands, a trio of pink glass rocks are transformed into objets d“art. The Taj ottoman rests underneath a metal console.

A custom painted mural by artist Chris Dennis depicts Gone With the Wind“s heroine, Scarlett O“Hara.

Pattern and texture were integral to Howard“s design scheme.

The graceful curves of the bed are the perfect foil to the contemporary paintings. The bed and Veronica Bedside Tables are from Redefined Home Boutique. The Designers Guild linens are from Suite Spot.

The Charlotte Sofa anchors the seating area in the main living space. An arts and crafts column provides architectural interest, while a miniature hexagon bud vase and a carved horse sculpture add texture and dimension. All of the these items are available through Redefined Home Boutique.

The residence designed by Kerry Howard features views of several iconic Atlanta institutions, among them the Coca-Cola headquarters, CNN and the Georgia Aquarium. So, with a nod to southern hospitality, Howard built upon the local landmarks that surround his space by incorporating a mural of Scarlett O’Hara, meant to look like it was painted on the side of a building.

Using furnishings from Redefined Home Boutique, Howard created a residence envisioned as a home for a young female professional who believes less is more and likes to mix the past with modern elements. A traditional pedestal in the corner, for instance, holds a modern sculpture. In the bedroom, the shape of the bed is traditional but on either side are contemporary alabaster lamps. A magnolia-print bedspread in the bedroom also alludes to Southern style but there are plenty of pink accents throughout the residence—including a candy-colored glass chandelier—that add a decidedly feminine touch. And because no Southern home is complete without a place to entertain family and friends, an expansive dining table provides the perfect place for guests to gather.
