New Atlanta restaurant Auburn Angel is an elevated dining experience you can’t miss
Chef Robbie Pacheco uplifts Downtown Atlanta with new neighborhood joint boasting a contemporary American menu
Many fear change—but this refined eatery embraces it. At Auburn Angel, embark on a contemporary dining journey, featuring an ever-changing seasonal menu.
Coined for the street it resides on, Auburn Angel breathes new life into Downtown Atlanta. With a focus on community, the culinary team aspires to uplift the neighborhood, aiding revitalization efforts. “The area deserves a place that is elegant and nourishing,” says executive chef and culinary director Robbie Pacheco.
The unassuming spot—built in the 1940s—brims with character and boasts an expansive narrative. “We want to showcase the history to the public, not wash out what has been here,” says Pacheco. “We’re bringing to life a space that was, and has always been, a restaurant.” Inside, original wood flooring is proudly preserved. Moody green booths are complemented by an exposed concrete wall streaked with paint, displaying a visual history of those that have come before. With a touch of glamour, gold table lamps, dark paneling, and pendant lights add a new-fashioned feel, elevating the space’s existing charm.
The culinary team knows no bounds, pushing the creative envelope to develop a truly spectacular concept. “We are all veterans of the business,” says Pacheco. “Everyone has worked together for years and brings their own value, so we get to have a lot of fun.” With no core menu, the dishes are ever-changing to reflect seasonal and market ingredients. “We don’t have rules here,” says Pacheco. “I think that is the true identity of the place because we are changing all the time.”
The rotating menu consists of refined contemporary dishes like Steak Tartare and Ox Tails. Revel in the familiarity of the deliciously indulgent Lamb Burger with meat ground exclusively in-house. For those seeking stability, rest assured the seasonal dessert menu undergoes little change. One taste of the Rhubarb Almond Tart with hibiscus syrup and almond butter crunch will leave diners wishing they ordered more. Retreat to the private patio to sip on refreshing cocktails like the Cussin Granny and Unc.
Continuing the mission of supporting others, the idea behind the restaurant is surprisingly simple. “We want to showcase what we do great to the people we love,” says Pacheco. “People may look at the outside of the building and come in with low expectations, but they will walk through the doors, look around, taste the food, and be pleasantly surprised.”
