Getaway Guide: Serene Serenbe
Looking to escape the vibrant city life of Atlanta for a weekend of absolute tranquility. Well then the Serenbe community in Palmetto, Ga.- about an hour South of the city- is the serene spot for you!
Visiting the sustainable community located on 40,000 acres of rural Georgia land- one of the last undeveloped stretches of land in the Atlanta area- for the first time for a block party in celebration of two gorgeous showhouses was exactly what I needed after a week of Atlanta hustle and bustle. I was lulled into a calmer state the second I turned down the wooded drive and saw the picturesque porches and quaint shops that lined the peaceful streets. My girlfriend and I spent a lovely Summer evening in the woodland haven that I am eager to repeat.
WHERE to stay: The Inn at Serenbe
Does a quaint cottage with supple sheets sound serene? What about lodging by a tranquil lake? Or would a restored farm house from 1905 better fit your tastes? Serenbe offers several guest accommodations with each one providing peace, quiet and down-home comforts.
WHERE to eat: The Hil
Farm fresh and filled with Southern charm this restaurant will please every sense. The smell of elegant Southern cooking, the sound of patrons laughing, the sight of Serenbe’s blooming surroundings, the touch of crisp homemade pickles unlike any I have tasted before (I am a pickle connoisseur!) and the taste of a veggie plate that puts all others to shame will invigorate you.
My one regret from my first visit is that I did not have the dessert parfait that included a fresh chocolate chip cookie and rich chocolate syrup among other treats. Watching the ladies seated beside us devour one was not the same as having my own.
WHAT to do: Serenbe Trailriding
Saddle up to explore Serenbe on horseback. Mozy to the barn for a morning or afternoon ride regardless of your previous riding track record. Experienced equestrians and those fresh in the saddle will enjoy a ride on one of Serenbe’s gentle and loving horses.
HOW to relax: The Spa at Serenbe
Take your relaxation into overdrive with an afternoon at Serenbe’s Spa, which leads the way in ARoMATOUCH Therapy (Try their signature massage!). After a freshening facial, luxurious massage and indulgent mani-pedi how could you not be at peace?
Trust me, Serenbe is worth the drive.
